Sadly, PAYING GUESTS stands on a waferthin plot, although Paritosh tries hard to add meat to the skeletal body. The film doesn't have the power to hold your attention for the next 2 hours, although it does [intermittently] make you smile or break into a guffaw.PAYING GUESTS fails to deliver thanks to a poor screenplay. Barring the four heroes and the landlords , the remaining characters in the film just don't work. The four leading ladies have nothing worthwhile to do and even the negative forces here are wasted. Final word? This comedy is more of a tragedy... for its viewers!

Everything about this film feels recycled - the juvenile plot, the tired jokes, even the performances by the leads. You've seen this kind of film many times before and there's virtually nothing novel being offered here.Paying Guests is a rather painful picture that completely fails to even engage you. You couldn't care less what happens to the characters in the end. Sadly, they all go home smiling. You wish you could too.A thumbs-down and one out of five for director Paritosh Painter's Paying Guests. This film is strictly for those who enjoy inflicting pain on themselves.

It's a completely chaotic story that keeps hurtling towards doom from the word go. Presumably a comedy, the film actually ends up making you cry -- in sheer frustration -- rather than send you in splits. The jokes are in terrible taste, where even rape is trivialised, and the actors sleepwalk their way through most of the film. Come on guys, exercise some quality control.

How does one critique a movie like Paying Guest without labelling it crass, sexist and mildly misogynistic? It can't be done. Let's see, they make fun of South Indians (Paintal's ridiculous accent), people with speech impediments (Chunky Pandey's ridiculous accent), women (Talpade and Jaffrey's ridiculous accents) and attempt to wrap it all up with a sequence that alludes to the famous scene set in a play from Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro.

Stale jokes, unimaginative writing and stereo typical characters rather caricatures make it a pain to sit through even its two hours running time. The music is functional while dialogues are full of double innuendo. The climax is a direct lift of cult classic comedy Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron. Also while watching the film one can easily make out the almost the entire film seems to have been shot in and around Subhash Ghai owned Whistling Woods International in Mumbai’s Film City passing it off as Bangkok.Paying Guests is low in content aiming for cheap laughs. But if that’s your idea of entertainment then enter at your own risk.
