This fourth installment in the Terminator series has almost none of that fearless spirit that made the first two movies – particularly T2 – so much fun. It's remarkably shot, though, in varying shades of grey, khaki and sepia; and it knocks you on the head with its never-ending assault of high-octane action. If that's your thing, give this film a chance.I'll go with two out of five and at best an average rating for Terminator Salvation.Judging by Christian Bale's permanent scowl in this film, I can only assume it was as difficult making this film as it was watching it.

If the Dark Knight overshadowed him in his last outing as Batman, then here, it is man-machine, Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington) who manages to walk away with more applause as compared to John Connor, the savior of the human race in this indeterminate war between man and machine. The film scores heavily in the action sequences and uses them effectively to tell the story of survival and hope. The screenplay may be weak, but you actually don't miss the spoken word in this high-octane drama that throws up a new hero in Marcus Wright.

For people interested in things going boom, this movie promises a great deal of satisfaction. The special effects department deserves massive props for generating so much artifice that looks and sounds believable. If you're in the mood for a non-threatening adrenaline shot, this is your best option this weekend. This movie does a good job of embracing the mythology of the franchise so while fans won't be disappointed, even newbies should be able to find satisfaction in the mayhem that unfolds onscreen.

What makes the film worth a watch inspite of the drawbacks are its superb climax and groundbreaking special effects and graphics. Watch our for the T-1000 Terminator making a come-back in the film towards the end (special appearance). The action scenes seem shockingly true and wont let you even bat an eye-lid while they are on. The war movie setting also gives the series a brand new look. The film’s metallic grey look also works in its favour.Terminator Salvation is an all machine show with very little emotion and humour to it but that shouldn’t keep you away from the film... it’s a superb watch for its special effects and sleek action... tons and tons of it.

If you haven't seen the other movies which is unlikely you can still watch this one. It'll leave you with just a few holes to fill and that's easily done with a good dose of a Terminator marathon. This is one of those action movies that just have to be watched on the big screen. If you have a home theater, a word of advice, volume has to be cranked to the max. When you walk out of that theater, give your brain a few minutes to reboot, trust me you'll need it.
